We're buying a new tent trailer today and hope to head out to Yosemite later this afternoon or first thing tomorrow morning. Excited!

i can go either way

Enjoyed an afternoon of light hiking around the Mount Rose Meadows area the other day. Drove through rain showers in South Lake Tahoe to get there. Summer is so wonderful in the Sierra, although that's what makes the lake crowded, especially on weekends.

Starting to get a sense of summer beginning to wane and the approach of fall in the distance.

Tahoe with Neil

A view from Harvey's at Tahoe while waiting for Neil Young & Crazy Horse to take the stage. It was a great night of music & you can't beat the setting.

A, B or C

when will I see you again?

A couple more photos from our Echo Lake hike:

Sierra Juniper
Ever since we walked along this beautiful lake, I can't stop thinking about when we'll return. Next time I want to take the water taxi and hike to Aloha Lake. Or maybe hike it straight through depending on how much time we have.

Echo Lake

Just finished reading "A Thru-Hiker's Heart by "No Way" Ray Echols and am wondering if it's time for a fiction break or if I should continue reading books about thru-hiking.

into the wild

Water taxi dock at Upper Echo Lake
We live in the Sierra foothills not far from Lake Tahoe. It's a pretty area with some fantastic hiking trails and lakes for kayaking nearby in the Sierra Nevada. This summer I've been integrating more outside activity with my cycling for a fit body and a healthy soul.

Had an idea...why not utilize this blog as a journal for my outdoor adventures?

This photo is from a last minute hike at Echo Lake. It was cool and windy when we first arrived but thankfully we decided to go forward with our plan to try this short (5.3 miles), easy hike along the lake. This trail is part of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail. We loved it. No exaggeration. Loved it.
