inquiring minds

I've been busy asking family members about their favorite Christmas songs. No surprises really. I've put together a mix CD that I'm sending to them. It's been a fun project.

So, this leads me to what the inquiring squirrel wants to know...

What are your favorite & least favorite Christmas/Solstice/Hanuka songs?

I'll go first, my favorite is Christmas Time Is Here by Vince Guaraldi. Least favorite is Little Drummer Boy. Favorite to sing is Come All Ye Faithful. I love Art Garfunkel's version.

sooo many favorites...but, O Holy Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentleen are at the top. and actually...Little Drumer Boy by Bob Seger is pretty good!!
What I don't like (and will most definitely make my jaw tense up) is ANY holiday song by Mariah Carey. UGH! They love her here and her voice is almost everywhere i go shopping...maybe that's why my holiday spirit is so lagging...it's Mariah's fault!!

I'll go third.
I love old music. Anonymous 4, & Stile Antico. I like Chanticleer. I bought a few more CDs already this year. Stile Antico came out with Tudor music for advent and Christmas and it's a beautiful CD.

For actual songs, the tear jerker for me is "I'll be Home for Christmas." That's a killer. And on the nostalgic-side, Mele Kalikimaka.

I'm not going to listen to anything by Mariah Carey based on dkuroiwa's comment.

Debbie - Mariah Carey music is a very real blight on society. It would suck my will to live and not just during the holidays either.

Janell - Say, "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is the song John chose as his favorite. You guys must share the same b-day or something. For the CD, I selected a peppy/jazzy Tony Bennett version. (I love Tony Bennett.)
