I took this photo yesterday in the late afternoon. I don't know what it is about this summer, but I'm obsessed with being outside as much as possible. I'm also extremely observant of what all the plants are doing in my yard. Things like what's blooming; what should be blooming but isn't; what looks best at what time of day...and so on. The daylilies have been spectacular this year and July is their month to shine. I felt compelled to take this photo because I'm noticing that soon the blooming period for the daylilies will come to an end. It makes the time in the late afternoon when these lilies are backlit by the sunlight precious.

The daylily looks golden, so pretty. My impatiens and petunias are in containers on the patio. They wilt very quickly. I'm constantly needing to water them. Thanks for your daylily. Is a tigerlily the same as a daylily or different???
Beautiful picture! I have some of these at the side of my house.
Here's my Snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/07/saturday-snapshot-july-23.html
What a beautiful lily! I have noticed those around our neighborhood are thriving too - and so pretty this time of year. It makes me wish I had planted some.
My day lilies are past their prime. They are lovely though. (Yours is a perfect photograph - the lighting was just right.
My garden is a mess. It is too hot to go outside and I haven't weeded it in a month.
Just beautiful! I love this orange time of summer.
That daylily looks beautiful with the light shining through. I have a row them on the west side of my yard and they look golden in the sunset.
I have the same outdoor obsession. Even in the oppressive heat I'm out there checking flowers and veggies, pulling weeds and just admiring the lushness of the garden in July.
lee, such a perfect summer photo. loved having you visit at my place - so happy to be sharing summer outdoors back and forth with you.
-xok.
This shot is gorgeous. Very nice lighting. Well done. My Saturday Snapshot is also of daylilies.
Gorgeous shot. The back lighting makes the orange quite luminous.
This is a gorgeous photo ... the quality of the light and the color of the lily are so soothing. Great eye!
